Order Tracking customers not getting regular updates on shipping progress

Hi
How do i ensure my customers get regular updates with the tracking on their order as it seems like they are not automatically informed when aliexpress update tracking details on the orders. Also it appears that they are not informed when order has changed from processing to completed and shipped. I have looked at the order tracking plugin but cannot see why they are not getting informed of progress on package. Do i need the premium version?
