WooCommerce native email variables and merge tags not working on email templates

    Hi there,

I’m trying to use the some of the native WooCommerce email variables and merge tags on the new account email template, as described here:

    https://woocommerce.com/document/email-variables-and-merge-tags/

For example, I’d like to use {customer_first_name} or {customer_name} to create a simple “Hi {customer_first_name}, thanks for …”, like on most welcome emails.

I’m trying to use this tag as suprisingly I cannot find anything like on the shortcode dropdown, only the user login, password and email. First name and Last name are mandatory on our website. I see on the docs that it is possible to create custom shortcodes but It doesn’t make much sense when there is already a native merge tag for doing that. Also, i think there is some misunderstanding on the docs and the plugin interface about what a shortcode is, I think this should be called merge tag or variable instead of shortcode.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks in advance

    Marc
