convert “send email to a friend” into a “request for quotation”

Hi There,

We purchased the premium version of Product Builder to build a system configurator for our customers. However, customers should not add their configuration to a cart, checkout and purchase directly. We simply want them to send us their configuration and request a quotation (RFQ for small B2B business).
We thought we might simply make some small changes to the “Send Email to a Friend” feature. Instead of the SendTo field, we would need the customer to input his own email – in addition to a few additional fields like name and association. The emails would always be sent to our sales department.

Question: Is this a sane way to realize RFQs? Is there a better way than fiddling with your php and css files? Is there an extension or alternative to Product Builder to do what we aim for?
