Currency changes on checkout page only

I am having a problem with the currency converter. Currently, users can only change the currency under the Country/Region field on the checkout page. However, after a user purchases a product and returns any page that displays prices the currency stays on the currency the user selected during the checkout.

I only want the currency on the checkout page. All the other pages should be sterling because this is the default currency.
