Custom CSS doesn’t seem to be working

I’m having issues trying to use the Custom CSS field to adjust paragpraph margins. Writing something like p { margin-bottom: 15px; } does nothing at all. Overall no CSS seems to propagate at all. For example, I tried doing span { color: red; } just to test things but that also didn’t do anything.

Please advise.
