Downloadable Product links in email for variations

When using Variations for downloadable (digital) products, the download links don’t show up in the email. Download links for simple products do.

To get around this, I used the Webhook for email_order_details, so now variations can show their links in a section below. But now I have double links showing up for simple products – links beside the Product Image (Order Details) and also in the webhook section.

Therefore, I want to EITHER show the links for Variable products in the Product Image (Order Details) section (and remove the webhook) OR remove all links Product Image (Order Details) section and just have them all show up in the webhook section. How do I do this?
