Excluding Certain Products from Free Shipping Bar Calculator

Is it possible to have certain products in our store be excluded from qualifying for free shipping, and not calculate into the shipping calculator of the free shipping bar? We are attempting to add items to the store that ship separately and have the cost of shipping built in, but we don’t want them factoring into the minimum spend for free shipping.
