image attributes don’t show unless USED FOR VARIATIONS is selected

Image attributes that are not used for variations, but shown on product is checked don’t appear on the product until you select used for variation…we need the images to be shown, but not selectable, as we just want to show the materials of the product. And then the colours and sizes of the products to be selectable…we have created the global attributes.
