Rules for variations of variable products

Hi, is it possible to display variations only if they comply with certain rules for variable products?
As an example: I want to create a bag as a variable product with the options “1 bag handle” or ” 2 bag handles”. If the customer selects 2 bag handles, another variation swatch field should pop up where he can choose between long and short. However, if he clicks only 1 pocket handle, there will be no further choice.
