License Policy

VillaTheme.com Version 1.0.0 – Effective date: [September 2nd, 2026]

1. Introduction

When you purchase a VillaTheme plugin, you’re not buying the product outright — you’re granted a license to use it under the terms below. VillaTheme, as the author, retains ownership of the product; the license only grants you the right to use it within the scope you purchased.

VillaTheme offers two types of licenses, matched to different use cases:

  • Regular License (Single Site) — for use on one (1) website.
  • Extended License (Multi Site / Developer) — for use across multiple websites, or when you’re deploying the product for a client as part of a paid service.

2. Quick comparison

Item Regular Extended
Number of websites you can install on 1 website [Multiple websites / unlimited — depending on the plan]
Use on your own personal/business website Yes Yes
Install for one (1) client, where the client doesn’t pay separately for the plugin itself Yes Yes
Install/deliver to multiple different clients (agencies, freelancers working across several client projects) No Yes
Use in a product/service where the end user has to pay to use the plugin (e.g. reselling it, or renting out a theme/plugin bundle built on it) No Yes
Receive updates & support per the [Item Support Policy] Yes (if a support package is purchased) Yes (if a support package is purchased)

Note: The VillaTheme team will fill in the specific figures (site counts, pricing) for each product line.

3. What you’re allowed to do

  • Install and use the plugin on the website(s) covered by the license type you purchased.
  • Customise or modify the plugin’s source code to suit your own website’s needs.
  • Under an Extended License: deliver/install the product for multiple different clients as part of a service you provide (e.g. an agency building sites for clients), as long as each website/project stays within the scope of the license you purchased.
  • If you’re a freelancer or agency working on a client project, you can charge for the effort and service of implementation, even when using a Regular License for a single project — but that Regular License itself cannot be reused across multiple clients or multiple separate projects.

4. What you’re NOT allowed to do

  • Resell, redistribute, share, or otherwise make the plugin’s source code available in any form — free or paid — either on its own or bundled with something else, even if modified.
  • Upload the plugin (original or modified) to other platforms, repositories, or websites for others to download.
  • Use a single Regular License across multiple websites or multiple different clients.
  • Extract a single component or module from the plugin to use on its own, outside the scope of the original plugin.
  • Use the plugin within “auto page builder,” “on-demand,” or “build-it-yourself” platforms that let end users generate their own digital products based on the plugin — unless you purchase a corresponding license for each product created. Please contact VillaTheme to discuss if this applies to you.
  • Use the plugin’s brand name, logo, or any of its components to create your own logo, trademark, or brand.
  • Allow your end users to freely extract and use the plugin separately from the website/project you delivered it in.

5. About open-source (GPL) licensing

Since most VillaTheme products are plugins built for WordPress/WooCommerce — platforms licensed under the GPL (GNU General Public License) — some of the PHP source code in our products may be distributed under a GPL or GPL-compatible license, while other components (images, documentation, design assets, etc.) remain VillaTheme’s copyright and follow the license policy on this page.

If VillaTheme announces a specific product as “100% GPL,” the GPL terms apply to that entire product instead of this policy. Whichever license type applies (if any) will be noted in the product description or in the downloaded files.

6. Transferring a license

If you’re a freelancer or agency working on a project for a specific client, you may transfer the Regular License you purchased to that client along with the completed project. Once transferred, the client becomes the license holder and is responsible for complying with the terms of this policy.

7. Violations and license termination

VillaTheme reserves the right to suspend or terminate a license if it detects a violation of the terms above, including but not limited to unauthorized redistribution or use beyond the purchased scope. Once a license is terminated, you must stop using, copying, or distributing the related product.

8. Relationship to the Support and Refund Policies

This License Policy applies independently of VillaTheme’s [Item Support Policy] and [Refund Policy] — purchasing a license does not automatically include support/update benefits, and a refund (where eligible) will simultaneously terminate the license that was granted.

9. Contact

If you have questions about this License Policy, or need a license type better suited to your use case (e.g. a large number of sites, a SaaS model, an “auto page builder” platform, etc.), please contact:

VillaTheme reserves the right to update this policy from time to time. We will post changes publicly on this page with a new effective date.
