Photo Reviews – Is it possible to have different reviews for variations?

We have a store with a  product that comes in different colors. Each color has been setup as a separate product, and has been gathering reviews. We are looking into combining the colors into a single product with variations and are wondering if photo reviews can be connected to a variation instead of the main product?
