Price Format Rules not working on variable products that are already imported to store

Hello,
I have found that the second stage price formatting is not being updated to some imported variable products when a sync is done. The first stage is working as it should.
e.g. My cost price is $14.95 and I add a 100% increase to the cost to get my regular store price. ($29.90) But when the rule as per attachment is applied, the price is not updated to (29.99)
This is working fine for simple products.
I feel that a delete and re-import from AliExpress might resolve this, but thought I would get your feedback first before I undertake the task.
