Rating – Stars not showing

Hi,
I installed the app and it works great but under “Rating” where you can select the stars it is blank unless you know to select under it for the stars to appear. Is there a way to show empty stars or default to 5 stars so that the user can modify? Otherwise it is blank and not obvious that you need to click to set the rating underneath the title.
