Variation thumbnail cropping changes based on aspect ratio of variation image

Hi,

I’ve noticed that the cropping of the variation swatch thumbnails varies based on the aspect ratio and/or cropping of the image.

If my variation image is square (eg, 800×800), the variation thumbnail image is perfect and includes the entire image (square but smaller). However if my variation image is cropped (eg, 800 x 300), the variation thumbnail is zoomed in (still square by zoomed in).

In order for my swatches to include the entire image, does my variation image have to be square?

Here’s a screenshot of what I am talking about. As you can see, the swatches are a zoomed in portion of the image (even though the image loads in full if selected).
